Carnival in Granville

So this is really late, but two weekends ago, Natalie and I went to Granville to visit Aurore (an exchange student who came to saty with Natalie 3 years ago) and to see the Carnival. She and her mother picked us up from Mont Saint Michel and drove us to their house. We ate dinner with their family, (her parents, brother and his fiancee) It was weird because last time we saw Aurore we spoke only in English and now we spoke only in French... After dinner Her brother, his fiancee and we went to a bar to watch Aurore's boyfriend's band play. They were pretty good, although very loud. It was pretty empty in the bar because they just passed a law banning smoking in bars. This meant that there were a lot of people there, just outside. The next day Aurore, Natalie and I went to the Carnivale in Granville. There were so many people in costumes: we all wore wigs. We watchd a parade go by which was full of floats, political satyrs, marching bands, dancers etc. Every so often there was a vendor selling confetti and silly string. Everyone bought some and sprayed perfect strangers with it. We got were covered with confetti and silly string by the end as was the street and everything else. We wandered around a little bit looking at the enormous rides and the stands with carnival food. It is so funny how all the stands sold crepes and gaufres (waffles). In the states, if I saw a booth with crepes I would be so excited, and here it is so common.. Anyway, then we got on a train and went home.
