Natalie's day of exploration.

Monday, March 2nd

Today I had nothing to do in the afternoon...and it was gorgeously sunny...so, I went exploring! There is a beautiful path that goes along the Maine river and I walked it for 1 1/4 hours (mostly barefoot) until I found a pedestrian bridge. It is the bridge that the American soldiers crossed when they
came in to liberate Angers from the Nazis in 1944. There is a plaque there commemorating the liberation.
Unfortunately there wasn't a nice path on the other side, so I ended up following a road for a bit, then balancing/rock climbing on the edge of a walled chapel (built by the Roi Rene...who is pretty much the most famous dude here in Angers) to get to a road on the other side. That road led me past an army base (interesting...) and then to the highway. But I made it home and didn't even use my map!
