1. Cheverny
2. Amboise
Two weekends ago Natalie and I went on an excursion with the school to des chateaux. We started in Amboise with the chateau there. It was absolutely gorgeous with a chapel where Leonardo Da Vinci is buried and enormous gardens and magnificent views. It has been partially disassembled from it's original state, but it is barely noticable. My favorite part was the enormous roaring fire that had in one of the halls. It was so surprising and welcome! After that Natalie went to explore the city because she had already seen our next destination: Le Clios de Luce, or Da Vinci's last house. It was pretty awesome because they had recreated in full size some of Da Vinci's inventions and had them in his huge yard for people to play on. One of my favorites was a big, wooden, turning, tank. After that we ate lunch at a cafe and got back on the bus. Our next stop was Blois castle. It was my least favorite, but it did have a really cool, exterior staircase. We did not spend alot of time there, mostlt the only stricking feature was the use of extremely vivid wallpaper. The next stop was Cherverny. This one was more of a mansion than a castle. They had set it up with furniture to make it look like a real living area. I like dit alot; but the gaurds rushed people and were kind of mean so we left pretty quyickly to look around the enourmous, park-like grounds. Also at Cheverny were some pretty scary, but also cute hunting dogs and a lot of Tintin cutouts and souvenirs. I think one of the Tintin books is set there. After that we got on a bus and went home.
