Feb. 1st
We made it to Paris and to the hostel with only a little bit of confusion... After dropping off our bags, we ate our leftover scones in the park across the street. Then we walked (about 15 mins) to La Place de la Bastille where we each bought a nutella crepe. mmm! Then we walked down to the river and sat by the walking path for about a half an hour, just watching people go by. It was very chilly, but still sunny. Around 3:00pm we headed back to the hostel to check in.We checked our tickets to Grease to find out what time it would start, but they didn't say. We tried to find out online, but the hostel didn't have any internet. So we decided to leave early enough so that if the show was anytime after 6:30pm, we would be there. I took a nap and rested my foot (which still hurts a lot) and Maria read.
On the way to the theatre we grabbed some dinner to go, then got lost for a bit, then eventually found it! However, when we tried to ask the guy there what time it started, he shook his head and I thought he said something like "20h00." We left, but were super confused! So we found an internet cafe and looked it up online--it had started at 5:30pm!!! (Who has ever heard of a show starting then?!) We went back to the theatre and showed him our tickets...he thought we were totally nuts (which we are), but he let us in to see the last 30 mins.
We saw our two favorite songs, which was fun, and they gave us really good seats. It was the closing night, so they did numerous curtain calls and encores (which was cool because they did a quick run-through of all the best songs!). And we saw Cecilia Cara (the girl who played Juliette on the dvd of "Romeo et Juliette," which we have watched so many times)!
After the show, we stood at the stage door hoping to get an autograph. Unfortunately she never came out, even though we waited for 50 minutes...in the freezing cold! Well, it was sort-of sad, but also very funny.
On Monday (Feb. 2nd) we woke up to about 1 1/2 inches of snow! And it was still snowing! What a surprise! Very pretty, but it made the sidewalks awfully slippery!
