Happy Valentine's Day!
Today our group got a tour around the Cointreau factory here in Angers. It is the only place in the world that makes Cointreau (a world-famous orange liqueur), which is pretty cool. They have been around since the mid-18oo's and they are a classic. The tour was very interesting as the guide gave us the inside scoop on their marketing techniques. It was odd to be told what you are supposed to be thinking when you look at their posters. The coolest thing I learned was that they give all the orange peels to a compost company after they have extracted what is needed for the liqueur. At the end of the tour we all received a free drink: a "Cointreaupolitan." It was pretty good!
After our tour, Maria and I and another friend got chocolate-filled crepes and sat in the sun--the best way to celebrate Valentine's Day!
In the evening Maria went to a hockey game with some of the people in our AHA group and I babysat for the 2 kids of my professor. We both had fun!
