I went to the doctor on Saturday morning to have my foot looked at...she thought it might be a pulled tendon, but she wasn't sure. She gave me a prescription for some pills and some cream to put on my foot. Since then, my foot hasn't hurt...magic pills! :)
I explored the huge Saturday market with friends (Maria, Candice, Miriam, & Laura) and bought 2 delicious oranges for 50 centimes.
Then we spent some time in a cafe (so we could warm up...it has be ridiculously cold here!) drinking hot chocolate. We walked to a little book sale where I purchased Little House on the Prairie--in French. Maria got an abridged version of Jane Eyre in French!
We stopped at a patisserie (for a little snack) before spending the afternoon at the Anglophone Library. I read "The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" (a great children's book that I hadn't read since I was little), which was a nice rest for my brain.
We all went to see "L'Etrange Histoire de Benjamin Button," which was in English with French subtitles. We all really enjoyed the film. Afterwards we ate dinner at an amazing pizza restaurant: Pizza Napoli. However, we didn't realize that you had to ask them to bring the bill...so we waited and waited...and the waitress kept frowning in our direction (because we were taking up a table and it was very busy)...until I finally asked her for the bill. Then she was happy and gladly brought it to us. :)
On Sunday I did laundry at the laundromat with Candice (who lives close to me). Afterwards, Maria came over to my house and we watched "Brokeback Mountain," which we had borrowed from the Anglophone Library. Another very sad movie.
In the evening, my host family had guests: their friends who have 2 exchange students. We had a great time talking about all sorts of things (esp. movies) and there was lots of laughing.
Classes start Monday, Feb. 9th!!
